National Awards for Women Bio Scientists | |
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) invites nominations of
women scientists who are currently working in the areas of biology
and biotechnology and have made outstanding contributions in
research, technology and product development. The programme is being
implemented through BCIL. (a) National Award for Senior Woman BioScientist There will be one award (Rs 1.00 lakh along with citation and a gold medal) for a senior woman biologist for lifetime contributions. The nominee should have carried out excellent research and applied the results for the benefit of society. (b) National Awards for Young Women Bio Scientists There will be two awards (Rs 50,000 each with citation and gold medal) for young women scientists below the age of 45 years (as on 31st December 2006) for pursuing a brilliant research career in biology. Streeshakti Science Samman | |
Objective of the award Streeshakti Science Samman ( for the
woman scientist of the year) is to honour a woman scientist who has
provided an original contribution to Science in India, with research
of high quality, which is relevant and beneficial to society. Criteria for selection : Innovative and high quality research and work; the research must benefit social needs and the research work must have been done in India. Carrying an award of Rs 51,000 and a citation.The candidate should be under 50 years of age. The research work must have been done in India in the period of last five years.
